This Privacy Policy explains how The Villescence Publishing Studios ("Morutabana," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use morutabana.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign up, we collect the information needed to create and manage your account, which depends on how you sign up:

• Email sign-up: your email address and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
• Google sign-up: your name, email address, and profile picture, as shared by Google.
• Phone sign-up: your phone number, used to send a one-time verification code.

Payment information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled entirely by our payment processor (currently planned: Flutterwave or DPO Group, supporting Orange Money, MyZaka, and card payments). We do not receive or store your full card number, mobile money PIN, or other sensitive payment details — these are handled directly by the payment processor under their own security standards. We only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded or failed, and basic transaction details (amount, date, plan purchased).

Usage information

We collect information about how you use the Service, including which subjects and topics you view, time spent on pages, device and browser type, and general location (country/city level, inferred from IP address). We use this to understand which content is helpful and to fix problems.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand site usage. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the Service (like staying logged in) may not work properly without them.

2. How we use your information

• To create and maintain your account
• To provide access to the subjects and content you've subscribed to
• To process payments and manage subscriptions, trials, and renewals
• To send important account and service communications (e.g. trial ending soon, payment failed)
• To improve the Service based on how it's actually used

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data to serve third-party advertising.

3. Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers necessary to run Morutabana, including:

• Authentication provider (e.g. Clerk) — to manage sign-up and login securely
• Payment processor (e.g. Flutterwave or DPO Group) — to process subscription payments
• Hosting provider (Cloudflare) — to serve the website itself

Each of these providers is contractually required to protect your information and use it only to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Morutabana, our users, or others.

4. Users under 18

Morutabana is designed primarily for secondary school students, many of whom are under 18. If you are under 18, we recommend a parent or guardian review this Privacy Policy with you before creating an account. We collect only the information described above, and do not knowingly collect more information from minors than is necessary to provide the Service. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information beyond what's needed, please contact us at the address below and we will review and remove it as appropriate.

5. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and restricted access to account data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain certain records (e.g. transaction records) for legal or accounting purposes.

7. Your rights

You can:

• Access and review the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information in your account settings
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of non-essential communications at any time
